BRACHIOPLASTY (arm lift)

A brachioplasty, commonly called an arm lift is a surgical procedure indicated to correct laxity of the soft tissues of the arms with excessive and loose skin that may or may not be accompanied by an excess of adipose tissue as well.
This procedure can be performed alone or in conjunction with a liposuction.
During the operation, incisions are made on the inner and under surfaces of the arm, sometimes from the armpit to as low as the elbow. Excess skin and fat are removed and the remaining skin is stretched and stitched back together. The operation generally results in slimmer, smoother upper arms. However, there will be visible scarring that may extend from the armpit to the elbow.
In some cases, in which there is excess fat but acceptable skin elasticity, to avoid the scars, it may be possible to treat the arms with a simple liposuction associated with Radio Frequency (Bodytite) or other techniques that aim to tighten the skin.
